Chapter One’s motto is “Good Honest Food”, which in essence means that all of the produce is locally sourced and just about everything on the menu is made from scratch. During the day Chapter One tries to bring a modern feel to the classic ‘Greasy Spoon’, where they have created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere suitable for all ages. Breakfast, brunch and lunch are available from 9am – 4pm until close daily and the kitchen can express artistic flair with dishes on the Specials Board. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights are when the lights go down, the candles come out and customers can enjoy something a little different with an a la carte menu that showcases some of Chapter One’s best sellers and also some of the Chef’s new and exciting dishes. Private hire is available upon request with a menu tailored to suit any occasion.
Sam and Claire pride themselves on using the best local ingredients. Fresh fish is delivered to the premises daily and meat is sourced from butcher Harvey Dunger, of Dovecote Farm, who rears his own cattle, pigs and deer. The quality of ingredients used at Chapter One is second to none and this shines through in the dishes created by the kitchen.
